SIREWALL.
Proven expertise in rammed earth consulting.
Pushing the boundaries in modern rammed earth.

Salt Spring Island in BC, Canada is home to SIREWALL, a Canadian, family-owned company committed to making a positive impact on the earth through its proprietary SIREWALL (Structural Insulated Rammed Earth) technology.
As rammed earth builders in the early 1990s, SIREWALL took an ancient building process and redefined it as a stronger, healthier, efficient rammed earth system that can be used in structures around the world – in any climate.
Since then, SIREWALL has evolved into a consulting organization that is passionate about working with architects, engineers, contractors and builders to utilize SIREWALL technology in buildings that not only exceed standards for energy efficiency and compressive strength, but will stand for generations.

Blazing trails and breaking records
It began in 1992 when SIREWALL founder, Meror Krayenhoff, was the first in Canada to build with Stabilized Rammed Earth (SRE), which incorporates cement into a damp soil mixture, making rammed earth walls five times stronger.
In 1993, SIREWALL expanded the boundaries of SRE even further by integrating an insulation core into rammed earth walls, multiplying their strength by an additional five times for unparalleled durability and energy efficiency in any climate.
For more than three decades, SIREWALL continues to be a disruptive force in the field of rammed earth with significant investments in R&D and global record-setting achievements including:
- First use of iron oxide colouring in rammed earth
- First curved insulated rammed earth wall in the world
- First fully buried (underground house) insulated rammed earth wall in the world
- First two-storey, curved insulated rammed earth wall in the world
- Tallest load-bearing modern rammed earth building
Helping to build healthy legacies
At SIREWALL Consulting, we believe that the scale of the effects of climate change demands a bold intervention, and that SIREWALL can be a large part of a solution. Together we can create healthy, sustainable structures for those who live and work in them to respect the planet that nourishes us and ensure a bright future for generations to come.
