The design uses the layering of the rammed earth in unique ways. The time it takes to create sedimentary rock syncs nicely as a backdrop for the wooly mammoth. Instead of long horizontal striations, the walls are comprised of 5 ft to 6ft wide vertical “stones” whose layer colours are ‘intentionally random’.

While each “stone” is visually independent of its neighbouring stone, the insulation and horizontal rebar running on either side of the insulation, are continuous through all the stones.
