This privacy statement discloses the privacy practices for SIREWALL (www.sirewall.com). It’s important to us that we maintain the highest standards in protecting your personal information. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us.

How this website collects your data

Forms

This website uses input forms to gather information consensually submitted to us by website visitors.  For example, on some forms we ask for information about a person’s geographic location which helps with the logistics of arranging a time meet, or which of our regional support personnel should respond. Our website uses secure SSL technology which protects information being sent to our secure servers. All data submitted to us is stored in a secure database. We only store and use this information to help serve our visitors and customers better and we never use any of it for marketing purposes.

Commenting on posts

For purposes of spam prevention, we use a plugin called ‘Akismet’ that collects information about visitors who comment on pages. This data typically includes the commenter’s IP address, user agent, referrer, and Site URL (along with other information directly provided by the commenter such as their name, username, email address, and the comment itself). None of these data are used for any other purpose than spam prevention.

Newsletter Signups

Several of our website forms allow visitors to request a subscription to our general email list, a service managed by a third-party provider called Mailchimp. We always require ‘double opt-in’ so users can confirm consent to have their email, first and last name added to our distribution (mailing) list. Additionally all of our email publications include links for either unsubscribing or updating subscription preferences.

You may be interested to read Mailchimp’s Privacy Policy pertaining to contacts who subscribe to distribution lists under their service. Check it out here: https://mailchimp.com/legal/privacy/#3._Privacy_for_Contacts

Cookies

What are cookies?

Cookies are small pieces of data, stored in text files that are stored on your computer or other device when websites are loaded in a browser. They are widely used to “remember” you and your preferences, either for a single visit (through a “session cookie”) or for multiple repeat visits (using a “persistent cookie”). They ensure a consistent and efficient experience for visitors, and perform essential functions such as allowing users to register and remain logged in. Cookies may be set by the site that you are visiting (known as “first party cookies”), or by third parties, such as those who serve content or provide advertising or analytics services on the website (“third party cookies”).

Both websites and HTML emails may also contain other tracking technologies such as “web beacons” or “pixels.” These are typically small transparent images that provide statistics, for similar purposes as cookies. They are often used in conjunction with cookies, though they are not stored on your computer in the same way. As a result, if you disable cookies, web beacons may still load, but their functionality will be restricted.

How we use cookies

Analytics:

We use a service called ‘Google Analytics’ to anonymously track visitors on our website. ‘Google Analytics’ tracks detailed, but anonymous information about the browsing behaviour of visitors to our website. This includes but is not limited to page views, time on pages, and also geographic data and some information about the device used, outbound link clicks, referring URLs and search engine terms. None of the information can be used to personally identify the actual user.

This website also uses software to track the browsing history of, and certain actions taken by, visitors on this website. If a visitor takes a particular action, such as submitting certain forms, the personally identifiable data submitted on that form is combined with that user’s browsing history to establish a basic ‘lead’ profile. From time to time we may use this information to help us make decisions on how we may better serve the needs and interests of that visitor. We treat this information with a high level of confidentiality, in order to protect the identity and privacy of our website visitors, and we never share it with third parties.

Facebook pixel:

The Facebook pixel is an analytics tool we use on this website that allows us to measure the effectiveness of our paid Facebook and Instagram content by understanding the actions people take on our website.

This includes making sure our paid social media content is served to audiences interested in our offerings; finding new people with related interests, or people who have visited a specific page or taken a certain action on our website.

This also allows us to measure the results of our paid content and better understand the impact of this content by measuring what happens when people see it.

How this pixel works:

The pixel will ‘fire’ when someone takes an action on a website. On our website, these actions consist of viewing specific pages, for example, our ‘Inspiration Kit Download’ page. The pixel receives these actions, or events, and tracks them on our Facebook Ads account Events Manager. From there, we’ll be able to see, in aggregate, the actions that visitors are taking. This then allows us to better reach Facebook users most likely to be interested in information and or services we have to offer.

If you have a Facebook account, we encourage to also read Facebook’s Cookie policy to understand how they obtain and use the browsing data they collect about you. Additionally, you will learn how you may change the settings to better suit your preferences for how your own browsing data gets used.

The use of Google Web fonts is done in the interest of a uniform and attractive presentation of our website. This constitutes a justified interest pursuant to Art. 6 (1) (f) DSGVO.
