SIREWALL tagline: Your Future This Is

Rammed Earth Courses

When it comes to rammed earth, confidence is everything!
If you’re here, chances are you have more than a passing curiosity in our high-performance wall system.

You’re not just a casual enthusiast. You want to dive deep under the surface to gain a solid understanding of SIREWALL: how it works, what makes it perform so much better than other leading forms of rammed earth. But most importantly you want to understand how to do it!

SIREWALL is a truly remarkable building system: attractive, resilient, sustainable and strong. Projects implementing our wall system have garnered the attention of the World Architecture Festival twice; and it has been used by one of the world’s leading architecture firms, Foster+Partners.

It has been designed with the future in mind and will become increasingly relevant in a climate-changed world. If you’re in the building industry anywhere on earth, understanding what it takes to create SIREWALL will likely give you a valuable edge.

When it comes to rammed earth, confidence is everything!
Dependable, durable, high-performance rammed earth—that’s what we do.

Creating conventional rammed earth isn’t hard. Anyone can make a pretty wall.

“Rammed earth is easy to do, but difficult to do well”

— Meror Krayenhoff, SIREWALL inventor

Why SIREWALL is your safest bet:

What makes rammed earth difficult to do well is that every single project brings a unique combination of variables which require adjustment to the process. More then 25 years of R&D have gone into improving our methods so we can confidently adapt our system to practically any situation.

SIREWALL has no step-by-step recipe. It is our way of approaching and responding to unique challenges and variables. There is variability in everything from locally available soils and machinery to local language and culture. What we offer is a strategic method of working with this variability in order to achieve consistently good results. We think our records speak for themselves—click to view stats.

With a properly delivered SIREWALL system you can have confidence that your project will look beautiful and perform its best.

Course FAQ

What are the benefits?

You’ll learn to speak knowledgeably about SIREWALL! We have found that this is one of the most important things you can take away: the ability to educate your colleagues or clients about the viability of this highly dependable building system.
In turn, you’ll find garnering support for your project much easier, as you move key stakeholders or clients out of the realm of hypothetical into real possibility.

Who are the courses designed for?

What people get out of the course is driven by what they want to learn. For some people the engineering segment is the most interesting, while others benefit most learning details about existing SIREWALL projects.

Some people love the networking with like minded individuals, while others are moved and enlightened by the depth and breadth of our green conversations on sustainability and climate change resiliency.

Some really gravitate to the practicum portion where they gain a deep and tactile understanding of the inherent pleasure in building in a way that not only aligns with their values, but that is also a fun team-based endeavour.

What is shared by almost all participants is the realization that what is now possible in building goes far beyond what conventional building offers.

What will students learn by taking a course?

Students will learn exactly what they came to learn. It is extremely rare that participants leave with unanswered questions, despite some of them coming with very long lists! The main benefit to the amount of group-learning we offer is that participants leave with answers, even to questions they hadn’t yet thought to ask.

Who teaches these courses?

We’ve gown a dynamic, distributed team of SIREWALL experts, highly experienced in delivering the SIREWALL system. They are capable, passionate and committed to passing on what they know. All of our teachers are highly trained SIREWALL builders.
